Beyond Academics

A Chinese proverb very aptly states

“Teach me and I will forget, show me and I might remember, involve me and I will never forget”.

At GISB, education is a pretty broad concept which surpasses the four walls of a class room. The core aim of GISB is to foster the all-round development of a child, which essentially means intellectual, physical, moral, sensible and social development. The school activities have been designed to give a balanced mix of student‘s participation in academics and an environment to discover and develop creative skills.

“All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”

Besides the academic curriculum, GISB lays special emphasis on workshops and co-curricular activities. These not only help the student to recognize their talent and boost their creative instincts, but also ensures that they receive practical, skill base experiences.

“The role of a creative leader is not to have all the ideas; it's to create a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they're valued.” ~Ken Robinson

The time table is planned in such a way that students get the opportunity to enjoy the activities like Yoga & Meditation, Aerobics, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Calligraphy, Art & Craft, Vocal and Instrumental Music, Western and Classical dance and Computers.

“An Artist is the result of a rare combination of experience and enthusiasm, perfection & dedication, tradition and innovation”

At GISB, we strongly believe in learning by doing. To put this to practice the academic curriculum is strongly supported by a host of activities which develop physical efficiency along with mental alertness, perseverance, team spirit, leader-ship, obedience and sporting. GISB has a huge plethora of option that a student can choose from.

  1. Art and Craft Club
  2. To nurture and bring out the inner talents, drawing and paintings or making things with one’s own hands is a perfect way. In GISB, it is seen that all the students have the exposure and opportunity to express their ability in drawing, painting, wallpaper creation and other craft items.

  3. Music and Dance Club
  4. Another form to convey your internal feeling with vibrating energy is music and dance. GISB students are trained in vocal and instrumental music as well as classical and western dances. All classes have music and dance periods once in a week and in addition to that; the interested students are provided further training during CCA periods.

  5. Calligraphy Club
  6. Beauty lies in all good things, as words we say, soft and sweet. Let the written part be live and enriched with artistic embellishment.

Calligraphy is an art that just about anyone can do. It means” beautiful writing.” It can be both a delight to the eye an inspiration to the spirit. In our technological age, the appreciation for the art of calligraphy has grown incredibly. In GISB, calligraphy competitions are held to develop an artistic sense in pupils at different levels.

  7. Dramatics Club
  8. Hidden histrionic talents are extracted through the Dramatics club. Acting and facial expressions are taught here. Teachers help each and every child to prepare and participate in the activities which remove stage phobia and develop confidence. The school curriculum also provides aplat form for the students to construct knowledge through play, direct experience and social interactions to enhance the skills, which are most needed for success in the life beyond school.

  9. Yoga and Sports Club
  10. A child needs both freedom and discipline , Freedom inspires creativity and through discipline they find the correct expression. It is therefore necessary to balance both for personal development. The goal of Yoga and Sports club is to give better fitness to students and to inculcate a sense of sportsmanship, competitive spirit, leadership, team spirit, and co-operation. The hidden motive behind all this is to develop self-confidence and trusting teamwork.
